To offer specific listeners the vinyl experience, we present our hand printed album. This is a limited edition of 100 pieces from which 30 were send to our crowdfunders.

We can't honor trees without considering the sustainable production of an album. We see it as our duty to release our album as green as possible. In doing so, we hope to make others aware of the need to make the music industry more sustainable.

Honoring the tree concept, graphic artist Stefan van der Heuvel has grinded ash through his coffee machine to get an organic pigment. All of us participated in hand printing through a silk screen, thus the cover of this album is exceptionally tactile.

By buying this unique album you are supporting us as independent artists, making further progress possible. We thank you from the bottom of our heart.

    Additional information:
As we have looked into the green production of vinyl, we would like to give attention to Green Vinyl Records project, a collective of 8 companies that together are developing a sustainable and alternative production process. That process is based on the injection molding technique instead of pressing. They are also replacing the current plastic with an environmentally friendly material whereby maintaining the familiar LP feel is paramount. Together, they claim to provide energy savings of over 70%, a faster production process with less environmental impact.

about

What if we could hear trees? If their slow existence could be audibly perceived? Would we be more concerned with their fate? Would we build an intense relationship perhaps see them more as pets, experience their proximity as beneficial, as an important part of our own human existence?

Sound artist and tree lover Timon Persoon has used his aural imagination to translate the characteristics of tree life into two beautifully imaginative compositions. Each composition immerses you for 20 minutes in a slow tree journey . This is not about amplifying the sounds that trees actually make themselves but about paying an artistic tribute to these living beings.

As a tree and language lover, Blanka Pesja has chosen the poetic haiku and tanka. Traditionally these Japanese minimalist poetry forms have an intense nature moment as their theme, making them well suited as textual elements in Timon's compositions.

Side A) High density of vertical beings takes you through the five different layers of a forest. From floor, through shurb, under, canopy all the way up tot the 'emergent' story.

Side B) Being enclosed in bark speaks from one individual tree, its ascending and descending.

We question the traditional power balance: the acoustic dominance over the electronic, the human voice over the soundscape etc.Our recordings should challenge the hierarchical perception that is rooted in our traditions and cultural values.
